Earlier this year, I had the chance to sit down with Julianne Evans from the University of Auckland to talk about the UoA Graduate Recording Project — an ambitious collaboration between the School of Music and SOUNZ that brought eight new works by emerging composers to life. In the wake of pandemic disruptions, this project offered our cohort of Master of Music graduates a rare opportunity: to have our music professionally recorded, filmed, and performed by some of Aotearoa’s top musicians. As both a composer and the project’s producer, it was an incredible experience to help shape something that not only showcases our diverse compositional voices but also provides lasting documentation for future opportunities. You can read the full article on the University of Auckland website, or check out the filmed performances on SOUNZ's platforms.
