WELCOME
Kia ora and welcome to my site.
I am a composer of instrumental, live electronics, and fixed media works that seek to challenge existing stylistic and genre divisions. My recent academic work involved interviewing 26 active New Zealand Composers and examining topics of sustainability within the New Zealand Compositional Landscape (NZCL).
This research saw the development of the PAPA model of compositional practice and classifying compositional mediums, directives, motivations.
ABOUT
MMUS UOA, 2022; BMUS NZSM, 2020
After growing up in Napier, Hawke's Bay I moved to Wellington in 2017 where I studied composition and sonic arts at the New Zealand School of Music. Whilst at the NZSM, I prioritized taking a diverse curriculum ranging from instrumental writing, live electronics, film music and gamelan. After completing a BMUS I worked as a freelance audio engineer before moving to Auckland to complete a MMUS in research. This research saw my creative and academic foci shift towards topics of sustainability and advocating for the arts. A recent highlight has been co-convening the 40th Anniversary CANZ Nelson Composers Workshop with Ihlara McIndoe
